Every time one of your favorite groups drops a comeback — or, let’s be real, gets caught up in some controversy — there’s this whole conversation happening in Korea that international fans just… never really get to see. It’s in the news, in the fan forums, buried in comment sections. And by the time it reaches English-speaking fans, it’s usually a few screenshots and a rough translation that misses half the point.
That gap used to drive me a little crazy. So now I write about it.
Okay, but why should you trust me?
Fair question. I started out in journalism before moving into the content world, which is where I work now. That first year taught me more than I expected, though: mainly, to actually check something before I repeat it, and to spot the difference between “a thing people are saying” and “a thing that’s true.” I still catch myself doing that on instinct.
But if I’m being real, my most useful qualification isn’t a résumé line. It’s just that I’m Korean. I read the same sources, I’m in the same conversations, and I notice the little things — a word choice, a reference, some cultural thing that a translation app flattens into nothing. So when I tell you how something actually landed in Korea, I’m not guessing.
